Why is there no preview of my name?

Because there is no ready-made template. Zohra composes each name by hand, following its letters, its rhythm and the two colors you choose: an automatic preview could only show a typeface. Your artwork does not exist yet, and that is what makes it unique.

The names shown on this page give an idea of her style. Have something particular in mind? You can leave a message when you order.

How it works

Easy to order, unforgettable to give

  1. You choose

Choose a name or your own words, two colors, a medium and a size. Simply write in English: no knowledge of Arabic needed.

  2. Zohra creates

With ink and a calame, in her studio in France. Allow 5 business days for your artwork to be created.

  3. You give

Your artwork arrives carefully packaged, with tracked delivery. All that's left is to watch their face light up.

On paper, you receive the original artwork, shipped from the studio. For other products, the artwork is digitized in high resolution and printed by our partner as close to you as possible.

The artist

Zohra's hand behind every stroke

Born in Méchéria, on Algeria's Hauts Plateaux, Zohra taught Arabic at the Centre culturel algérien de Paris before becoming a storyteller. She honed her calligraphy skills under master calligrapher Hassan Massoudy, a leading figure in contemporary Arabic calligraphy.

Together with her son Karim, she brings Noun Qalam to life: a family business based in France, where every order becomes part of their story.

“To me, every name has its own melody and balance. […] I seek perfect harmony in the curves of Arabic letters to bring your identity to life.”

Your questions

Everything you need to know before Christmas

Will my order arrive before Christmas?

Yes, if you order by Saturday, November 28 for a personalized canvas, mug or textile item, by Wednesday, November 25 for a personalized original artwork on paper and by Tuesday, December 8 for artwork from the collection. These dates apply to delivery outside the European Union; within France and the EU, you can order a little later. The exact delivery timeframe is shown when you select your shipping option.

Do I need to write the name in Arabic?

No. Simply enter it using the Latin alphabet, or in Arabic if you know how. If the name isn't Arabic in origin, Zohra creates a faithful phonetic transcription: names from any language are welcome. Since Arabic offers several ways to represent the same sound, the transcription is also an artistic interpretation.

Can you turn a phrase written in English into calligraphy?

Yes. With “Your words, your artwork”, you choose a main word and an accompanying phrase. Zohra translates them into Arabic, taking care with both meaning and visual harmony, then letters them by hand.

What's the difference between an original and a print?

On fine art paper, you receive the original artwork: the piece Zohra has drawn and signed by hand, shipped from her studio in France. For other products (canvas, mugs, T-shirts…), the calligraphy is first created by hand, then digitized in high resolution and printed by our partner as close to you as possible.

Is a frame included?

Artwork on paper comes unframed, ready for a frame in standard A4, A3 or A2 sizes. For a gift that's ready to hang, choose a canvas or framed canvas.

Do you ship outside France?

Yes, we ship worldwide. Printed creations always include shipping. The A4 original of a name includes shipping to France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. For other original artwork on paper, or other destinations, shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your delivery address.

Is payment secure?

Yes. Card payments are processed through Stripe's secure checkout page. Your card details are never stored on our website.

Can I leave a note for Zohra?

Yes. You can leave a message for Noun Qalam during checkout. If you have any questions before ordering, get in touch.
